McLaren bosses were joined on site by Redknapp, Club Captain Ledley King, and First Team Captain Michael Dawson for the toping-out ceremony.
McLaren chairman Kevin Taylor said: “We are immensely proud of this development and are delighted to be able to mark this point in the project with all of the team members who have worked so hard to get us here, as well as display to the Club the world-class facility where they can look forward to training.
“An example in cutting edge design, engineering and construction techniques, the training centre is set to be testament to what can be achieved through a shared vision, innovation and practical collaboration at every stage of a project.”
Harry Redknapp said: “It’s great to be here and see the centre taking shape. What a fantastic facility for players to come and work in every day and to attract young players who are thinking about coming to Spurs.
“You won’t find a better training centre than this anywhere. It’s got everything a top class player would need.”
King said: “Having come through the ranks here at Spurs and understanding the value and importance the Club places on developing home-grown talent, there is no doubt this facility will provide a fantastic platform both for our First Team and Academy.”
The site includes
- 11 outdoor pitches; one artificial pitch and ten natural grass. The main pitch will be delivered to the same quality and design as the pitch proposed for the New Spurs Stadium; complete with undersoil heating.
- A two storey training centre, designed by architects KSS to be an integral part of the landscape. The building has been designed around a 70 x 50m indoor artificial pitch which features a transparent ETFE roof similar to the Eden project in Cornwall.
- A main building with a sedum roof that houses a learning centre for the Academy and educational space, medical facilities, a hydrotherapy / swimming pool, altitude room, fitness centre/gym, changing rooms, a canteen and media centre.
McLaren has been on site since July 2010 and the project is due for completion on deadline in Summer 2012.
