Architect Hawkins Brown has designed the flagship building at the heart of the Gibbet Hill Campus which is to be built by Willmott Dixon.
N G Bailey will deliver the key building services package on the project.
Plans for the five-storey interdisciplinary biomedical research building include a central ‘lab village’ core, a 400-seat lecture theatre, with a large public entrance, café and exhibition space.
The building will be constructed with an exposed part concrete, part Glulam and cross-laminated timber frame with a mix of pre-cast concrete cladding and anodized aluminium ‘fins’.
IBRB also aims to achieve BREEAM Excellent when it opens in 2020.
