The Piers Gough designed building will range across three heights of 12, 16 and 55 storeys, and include a 217-bedroom four-star hotel and 397 flats.
It would also feature a café/bar, 160,000 sq ft of office space, a brasserie, coffee shop, branded restaurant and health club.
Subject to a section 106 agreement covering improvements to transport and affordable housing provision, construction is due to start in the third quarter of 2013.
David Hudson, Guildhouse chief executive, told the Enquirer: “We are in talks with Intercontinental as hotel operator and still have office prelets to agree.
“We are about a year away from appointing a contractor, but that’s not to say we are not interested in serious approaches from major contractors with a proven track-record.”
The main tower building will rise to 198m, making it about 20m taller than the other planned Croydon high-rise scheme designed by architects Make for developer Menta.
This was given the go-ahead last July for a nearby site at Cheery Orchard Road.
