The decision to press ahead with the distinctive building to be known as Four New Bailey is a big boost to the Manchester commercial building market after the Covid-19 outbreak.
Designed by architect Make, with support from structural engineer Cundall and M&E engineer Hannan Associates, the building will rise to 12 storeys with a rooftop terrace.
The construction project is understood to be worth around £50m and will involve erecting a striking diagrid external structural steel frame encasing the façade.
Contractor Bowmer & Kirkland has built a strong relationship with English Cities Fund, a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal & General and Homes England, at New Bailey.
It has been built two earlier office projects on the site and is completing the third due to complete in early 2021.
