NEPO takes north east civils framework national

The North East Procurement Organisation is the latest regional framework body to seek to broaden its reach with plans for a civils framework that extends to national work.

NEPO expects its next-generation four-year framework to attract a total spend of £400m following firm commitments from a dozen north east local authorities.

But it hopes new national lots will create even more interest from outside the region.

Previously the framework was confined to smaller value lots in the north east alone.

The revamped framework is now structured to set up pools of contractors for three tiers of geography.

The local Tees Valley, Durham, Northumberland Tyne and Wear areas; the wider North East region; and now nationally for the first time.

Selected contractors will deliver a host of civils work from highways, water infrastructure to coastal and river defences and public realm.
