Its 155 Moorgate offices achieved the IMMUNE rating for successful measures implemented to keep employees safe during a global pandemic.
The open-source building standard founded by European property company Genesis Property is designed to help combat health risks in the workplace, reduce fears around Covid-19, and build trust amongst employers and employees in their efforts to return to the office safely.
The certification scheme was set up for office buildings and could also be adapted for buildings in use for hospitality, retail, health care, education, or residential purposes.
Mace has taken extensive action in the past months to implement safety measures across its offices and construction sites to ensure a safer and healthier workplace environment for its 5,000 employees.
The independent assessment process was conducted by Build Green, an authorised building assessor and a contributor to the development of the standard that considers 100+ measures and best practices.
Maud Santamaria, Head of Workplace Experience at Mace, said: “The Facilities Management team at Mace has worked in partnership with colleagues, implementing control measures that focus on the wellbeing of all our staff.
“Coupled with flexible working arrangements, we have created a workplace environment for our colleagues where they can work and perform safely.”
Liviu Tudor, President of the European Property Federation, and founder and president of Genesis Property said: “I congratulate Mace on this impressive achievement and I am confident that this is just the first step towards ensuring healthier office environments across the globe.
“Except hospitals, clinics and “clean rooms” dedicated to scientific research, no other building has been truly prepared so far to face a pandemic challenge like Covid-19. Mace has shown outstanding leadership in boosting the immune system of its workplace and certifying its resilience with IMMUNE.”
