Carpenter will play an integral role in identifying new opportunities for Durkan with particular focus on expanding its successful partnerships with local authorities and housing associations.
While, to date, Durkan has focused predominantly on partnership projects in London, he will press forward with the business’s expansion across the South East and into the northern Home Counties.
Danny Durkan, Executive Chairman of Durkan said: “We had a successful year in 2020, and we have even greater ambitions for this year.
“We aim to expand on our work with public sector partners to deliver much needed new affordable housing, as well as continue our expansion beyond London and the South East.”
Carpenter joins Durkan from Mears Group where, as Managing Director of its New Homes division, he focused on delivering mixed tenure projects with housing associations and local authorities across the UK.
During seven years at Mears, Carpenter grew the division to a peak of delivering 260 new homes per annum with combined revenues of £65m.
Before that, he was with Willmott Dixon for 22 years, latterly as managing director of its largest residential business.
