BAM Nuttall is the big winner securing places on all £10m plus lots which provide a framework competitor for local authorities to SCAPE.
Rival contractor VolkerStevin, Galliford Try and newly-named Tilbury Douglas also fared well in higher value lots.
Previously the framework was confined to smaller value lots in the north east alone.
The revamped framework is now structured to set up pools of contractors for three tiers of geography.
The local Tees Valley, Durham, Northumberland Tyne and Wear areas; the wider North East region; and now nationally for the first time.
