During his time with Laing O’Rourke, Leonard and his team focussed on driving efficiency and quality in building services installations through prefabrication and off-site delivery techniques.
As well as assuming the lead role on some of Waterman’s major projects, Leonard will use his experience to support Waterman’s research into reducing carbon through off-site manufacture as part of its Net Zero advisory service.
During his 30-year career, Leonard has worked on major landmark projects both as a consultant and contractor across a wide range of sectors, including offices, residential, aviation, stadia and healthcare projects.
He has led consultancy frameworks with major clients including Grosvenor Estates, Barclays and RBS and delivered major projects including Heathrow’s Terminal 5B and the fit-out of Goldman Sachs’ new headquarters at Farringdon in London.
Mark Terndrup, Waterman’s managing director of Building Services (South), said: “Simon joins us at an exciting time as we drive forward with our initiatives to respond to the climate emergency and his experience and expertise will be a fantastic asset to both our team and the wider business.”
