The new leisure centre, which includes a 25m swimming pool and sports halls, will be situated on the current site of Viscount House, next to General Gordon Square, in Woolwich town centre and forms part of a wider housing scheme of up to 450 apartments.
Morgan Sindall Construction’s latest order means the firm will have delivered over £360m of leisure schemes nationally over the last seven years.
Cllr Sarah Merrill, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth, said: “The Council is making a big investment in Woolwich across a number of regeneration projects that will rejuvenate the town centre.”
Richard Dobson, Morgan Sindall Construction’s area director for London, said: “Morgan Sindall Construction has an outstanding track record in delivering complex, high-profile leisure and community facilities for local authority partners across London and the UK’s key cities, and we’re pleased to be able to bring this experience and insight to this important project.”
The design of the leisure centre building will be targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating.
