North East contractor stops work on sites

Newcastle based contractor Kapex Construction has stopped work on sites across the north east.

The Enquirer understands work suddenly stopped on jobs earlier this month and staff were sent home.

Repeated calls to the company’s head office went unanswered this week and some Kapex staff have taken to LinkedIn to announce they are no longer working for the business.

Kapex Construction was established in 2016 as the building division of the Morton Group which is owned by father and son team Brian and Gary Morton.

Latest results for Kapex filed at Companies House show the firm had a turnover of 11.6m for the year to March 31 2020 generating a pre-tax profit of £419,000 and employing 62 people.
