The site sits within the Piccadilly Basin and has been transformed since work first started in 2005. To date the Islington Wharf development has brought forward 348 much-needed city centre homes on the banks of the Ashton Canal.

Thelatest deal with Latimer – the development arm of Clarion – will bring forward a further 106 flats in two landmark buildings rising to 11 and 16 storeys.

The wider Islington Wharf scheme has been delivered by developer Waterside Places, a strategic joint venture between Muse Developments and the Canal & River Trust.

Waterside Places has appointed Morgan Sindall Construction as the scheme’s main contractor.

Tom Webber, senior development surveyor at Waterside Places, said: “We’re proud to exchange this deal with the Latimer team, which will accelerate the delivery of much-needed affordable homes in the heart of Manchester.

“This phase represents the last phase of development here for us and we’re looking forward to getting on site to bring forward this striking scheme of apartments.”
