Design and construction of railway systems for the new mainline station which, will connect HS2 with Great Western mainline, Crossrail, and Heathrow services, is expected to cost up to £200m.
At the Old Oak Common interchange, eight surface platforms will serve Crossrail, taking passengers to Heathrow and Central London, and the Great Western mainline, for GWR’s trains to Wales and the West of England.
These will be located beside the six sub-surface platforms that will serve HS2 services in a connected by separate station box.
Procurement bosses are looking to go to the market with a prequalification contest this November with the aim of shortlisting three groups to bid for the project.
Network Rail aims to appoint a successful bidder by December 2022 to deliver the four-year programme of works.
