Demolition of Barker’s Pool House has completed at the Pinstone Street site allowing for main building work to start on the £35m hotel scheme.
Forming part of the city council and development partner Queensberry’s Heart of the City programme, the new building has been designed by architect HLM with Arup on both structural and M&E design.
Housing the hotel’s 154 bedrooms, the new building will complement and adjoin the carefully retained Victorian façade.
JD Excavations Tyrone is the groundwork contractor for the project, with Stothers set for the MEP package on the job.
Andrew Davison, project director at Queensberry, said: “It’s great to see the progress being made on Heart of the City and the transformation of Sheffield city centre continue. We are very excited about the opening of the Radisson Blu hotel next year and the completion of the project.”
Construction of the hotel, being carried out by McLaughlin & Harvey, is expected to be complete towards the end of 2023.
