Jones was appointed director for BAM Nuttall’s rail sector in 2016 and has overseen a period of consistent growth throughout the last five years.
In 2021, the rail operations alone directly employed 750 staff.
In his new role as transport managing director, Jones will continue to oversee his previous rail brief while also widening his leadership responsibilities to cover BAM’s growing highways business.
Ian Parish, executive director of BAM Nuttall said: “Huw Jones is part of a new generation of leaders that understands the importance of using his position of influence to create career and development opportunities for others from a diverse range of backgrounds.
“His transparency, honesty and sincerity through the past two years of the Covid-19 pandemic has inspired the teams around him to not only survive, but thrive, despite the challenges we have all faced.
“During his tenure in rail, BAM has become Network Rail’s largest engineering partner by value, we have been awarded framework contracts across the UK and have successfully completed some major infrastructure schemes including Aberdeen-Inverness, Highland Mainline and Ordsall Chord, with more to follow this summer.”
Jones said: “I am delighted to be taking on leadership of our transport business together with highways sector director, Doug Mills and the transport team to help us build a sustainable future at BAM.”
