The council has ambitious plans for Huyton and is progressing its 10-year development plan which includes the creation of a commercial district.
This will include the Council’s HQ, a hotel, commercial and residential accommodation, a village green and significant improvements to the high street and station gateway area.
Work is well underway on the Council’s Round 2 bid to the Government’s Levelling Up Fund to kick-start Huyton’s development plans and Genr8 Kajima’s experience and resources will help to strengthen the £20m funding bid, which goes in next month.
Cllr Tony Brennan, cabinet member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said “I’m delighted to be working with Genr8 Kajima Regeneration.
“They have a successful track record of delivery and they will help us to accelerate our development plans for Huyton.”
Genr8 Kajima Regeneration has already delivered over £100m of town centre regeneration, including Rochdale Riverside (a 200,000 sq ft retail and leisure scheme). It is also currently nearing completion of delivering the £200m Smithfield mixed use development in Stoke.
GKRL Director, Mike Smith said: “The proposals are ambitious and will transform the town centre and create an innovative mixed-use environment in which the whole community can thrive, and which will be the catalyst for further regeneration throughout the borough. It is a truly exciting time for Huyton.”
