Guildford Borough Council is heading the plan to replace the station level crossing with a new bridge and pedestrian crossing.
The A323 Guildford Road road diversion and bridge project will also enable housing that has been allocated in the Local Plan to come forward.
The present crossing barrier is currently down for up to 25 minutes every hour, and barrier downtime will increase in line with a planned increase in train services on the line.
Funding for the £26m Ash Road Bridge project is supported by a grant from Homes England’s Housing Infrastructure Fund in addition to developer contributions.
Bidders must hold and maintain a Network Rail Principal Contractor Licence to qualify for the scheme.
Interested firms have until 17 October to request tender documents with tenders dispatched to shortlisted firms on 1 November.
