The refreshed construction framework for councils and public bodies in the north east is due to come into force from April 2023.

This time around the procurement group estimates up to £800m of work could be channelled through the framework over four years.

Large contractors presently on the select panel include Engie, Esh, Kier, Robertson, Sir Robert McAlpine and Willmott Dixon.

The lotting structure has been expanded from 6 lots to 10 lots to encourage smaller contractors to take part.

It will cover a diverse range of construction but is mainly targeted at new build and improvement works, while also including civil engineering, infrastructure and demolition works.
