Hope was previously Chief Executive at Exeter-headquartered Midas Group which went into administration in February owing more than £50m to its supply chain.
Paul Nicholls, CEO at Real, said: “We’re pleased and excited to have someone as experienced as Alan join Real with a clear remit to grow our South West business.
“Alan’s local knowledge and relationships will help us achieve our growth plans in the South West – it’s incredible to find someone with so much talent to fill this very important role for us.
“Despite a previously great track record and long-standing reputation, Midas went into administration earlier this year, a stark reminder to us all what a difficult market we are operating in.
“I am very aware of the impact of Brexit, the Covid pandemic and more recently the war in Ukraine has had on our industry and the subsequent demise of many long-established well run construction companies, despite the fantastic teams they had in place.”
Hope, Director of Real South West, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Real. They have a differentiated business model and a great team of talented people.
“The construction and property sector has a vital role to play in helping to grow the economy, improving our infrastructure and built environment and in enhancing the lives of the people in our communities.
“As a business Real presents itself as one of the most progressive in the industry and I’m ready for the challenge of continuing its growth whilst maintaining a fantastic environment to work within. I am looking forward to helping Real to create a lasting and positive legacy in the South West.”
