Graham Construction will deliver the Clydesdale & Birks project, which ranks as the largest Passivhaus scheme in student accommodation sector.
The firm will build over 1,700 new student rooms and refurbish 300 existing bedrooms at Birks Grange.
UPP and the University will now work to reach financial close by the summer of 2023.
Following this, Graham will start construction immediately with the first phase of the development due to become operational for the 2025/26 academic year.
UPP’s partnership with Exeter stretches back well over a decade. During that time, UPP has developed, and now operates, well over 4,000 rooms on campus.
Once the new scheme is delivered, UPP will be operating more than 6,000 rooms on the University’s Streatham Campus.
The remaining bedrooms will be finished to welcome students into the wholly completed development in September 2026.
Mike Shore-Nye, Registrar and Secretary at the University of Exeter, said: “We are delighted to extend our on-going partnership with UPP.
“Our plan to develop more purpose-built, self-catered student bedrooms on campus will allow us to offer more students an excellent living experience.”
