Client EDF Energy has had its plans approved by Sedgemoor District Council to use Pontins Brean Sands as an accommodation centre while the new nuclear plant is being built.
EDF will pay for a phased multi-million refit of the holiday park and the first construction workers have now moved in to their chalets.
A Hinkley Point C spokesperson said: “We will be accommodating workers at the Brean Pontins site for the next three years and investing millions of pounds into its refurbishment.
We have been working with the local community and businesses throughout this process and developed a significant mitigation package, which will benefit the area over the years to come.”
The first builders moved in just before Christmas with 100 currently on site and numbers expected to gradually rise throughout the year with a maximum capacity of 900.
Improvement work will involve renovation and modernisation of the chalet units, improvements to the electrical supply, installation of Wi-Fi connections and upgrading the infrastructure.
