The Teesside-based cladding, curtain walling and balustrades specialist operated out of a 26,000 sq ft facility on Cowpen Lane Industrial Estates in Billingham.
Present work included Wates’ £35m Central Science Labs projects for Teesside University where it was windows and doors subcontractor and Bowmer & Kirkland’s £90m Stepenson’s Building for Newcastle University where the firm was window and curtain walling subcontractor.
Topside was established in 1992 as a curtain walling, window and door manufacturer and evolved into a building facades and envelope specialist encompassing many different fenestration disciplines.
Greg Whitehead of Wallsend-based administrator Northpoint, said: “The company has seen various problems similar to many others in the construction sector and in the end administration became unavoidable with cashflow a real problem.
“All trading activities had to cease upon administration. About 30 employees were made redundant, with a few retained to help tie up loose ends as best as possible.”
He added that he was hopeful that all creditors would get some level of return from the administration.
