Plans for phase one will involve demolition of existing buildings containing 290 homes and the construction of 505 homes.
The first phase covers blocks Slatter, Sopwith, Spitfire, Spooner, Tait, Tedder, Wilshire, Whittle, Whittaker and Wheeler.
The successful firm will form a joint venture with the local authority’s housing arm, Barnet Homes, to lead the redevelopment, which forms part of the transformation of Barnet’s largest housing estate
Built in the 1960s and 70s, Grahame Park Estate has long been earmarked for regeneration. The first stage, containing 685 homes, has already been built.
Planning permission for the second stage, set to provide 2,088 homes in the southern part of the estate, was granted in 2020.
But progress on the regeneration has been slow because of present market conditions and the sheer scale of the regeneration challenge.
This meant the northernmost parts of the estate were unlikely to see any regeneration before 2030.
This prompted Barnet to decide to bring forward this part of the estate regeneration with a new partner.
Using a £22.4m Greater London Authority grant, the scheme will deliver 50:50 affordable housing including social rent in a high-rise flatted mixed tenure development.
