She will join the contractor later this week and sit on the Group’s Executive Committee, reporting to the Chief Executive, Eoghan O’Lionaird.
Toogood was most recently CEO of Legal & General’s Modular Homes business where she led the operation for six years.
L&G’s modular housing business amassed accumulated losses of £295m in its abortive foray to modernise the house building industry with factory-assembled homes.
The firm closed its North Yorkshire factory last summer and is currently winding-down work on its three current sites.
Toogood said: “I’m delighted to be joining such an innovative and forward-thinking company with such a strong heritage.
“Good quality is at the heart of what Wates delivers as a business and I look forward to strengthening this strategic focus across the Wates supply chain, to help ensure we deliver the highest quality outcomes for our customers and stakeholders.”
O’Lionaird added: “At Wates, we are committed to driving the highest standards of quality in everything we do. It is a pleasure to welcome Rosie to the Executive Committee.
“Her experience will be invaluable as we continue to work across the whole company and with our supply chain to deliver the very best for our customers.”
