The scheme is London developer Manner’s first in Manchester and will preserve much of the old cotton mill’s existing brick exterior.

Sprouting from the old mill building will rise a 37-storey brick-clad tower incorporating the student rooms. The lower floors of the mill will be occupied with commercial space.

Designed by architects Hodder + Partners, the scheme is timetabled to start construction in early 2025 with completion set for May 2028.

Procurement for the main works contract, expected to cost around £80m, will get underway next month.

Scheme includes a new public square and connected public realm improvements for the wider community.
