The Purpose Built Student Accommodation will contain 264 student bedrooms, 30 affordable homes, nearly 11,000 sq ft of ground floor commercial space and new public realm enhancements located next to the famous Grade II-listed Roundhouse live performance venue.
The overall design will enhance the setting of the Roundhouse and listed building works will repair its original fabric. The four proposed buildings, designed in collaboration with DSDHA, will reach 12 storeys at the highest point.
The PBSA building will feature three drum-shaped elements, featuring a striking facade adorned with horizontal bands and fluted panels, paying homage to the historical context of the area.
Construction on site is likely to commence in late 2024 with Regal managing works and currently assembling a team of subcontractors.
Steve Harrington, Planning Director at Regal: “We have worked hard to strike the right chord on this special site next to such an iconic performance venue and are very proud to be able to bring forward proposals that reflect the spirited history of Camden town.
“As a Camden based developer, we are particularly excited that our newest PBSA project is in our home borough, and we look forward to bringing our proposals to life.”
