The £80m Jersey Wharf and Eliza Yard developments are developer Manchester Life’s first residential schemes in the next stage of Ancoats’ regeneration.

Jersey Wharf will offer 190 rental flats transforming a previously vacant site on Jersey Street along the Rochdale Canal into a new residential community.

Eliza Yard, located directly across Jersey Street at the corner of Poland Street, will offer 126 flats for market sale.

Since 2014, Manchester Life has been pivotal in transforming Ancoats and New Islington in line with the Council’s Neighbourhood Development Framework. Sisk has been a construction partner from the outset, successfully delivering three schemes within the initial regeneration phase.

The two schemes will support over 800 construction jobs, with 29 trade apprentices involved throughout the four-year programme.

Marty Edelman, Manchester Life’s executive chairman, said: “Our regeneration efforts in Poland Street support the Ancoats and New Islington Neighbourhood Development Framework by addressing the demand for private rentals and for-sale homes, boosting the local economy, creating jobs, and advancing the city’s housing objectives.

Alan Rodger, managing director, UK North, Sisk, added: “We are thrilled that Manchester Life has chosen Sisk as the main contractor for the Jersey Wharf and Eliza Yard developments.

“With our strong track record in Build-to-Rent and private residential developments across Manchester, Leeds, and Birmingham, Sisk is well-positioned to provide high-quality, sustainable homes.”

The project team includes Mace as project manager; T&T as cost manager; Buttress, PRP, and Arcadis as architects; Curtins as civil and structural engineer; and Buro Happold as MEP engineer.
