Barratt London has got the planning green light to build more than 260 flats at a former South London gas works site.

The six-block mid-rise scheme in Sydenham was designed by dMFK Architects taking inspiration from the neighbouring Grade II Listed Livesey Memorial Hall.

Located at the gateway to a retail park, the Bell Green Works plot previously housed two gasholders, which were decommissioned and dismantled in 2020.

The blocks of flats will range in height between five and 14 storeys.

The proposals also include 780.8 sqm of ground-floor commercial space set around a new landscaped public retail square, providing a much-needed high-quality public space.
