We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Senior Civils Engineering Estimator to strengthen our pre-construction team based at our Head Office in Trafford Park, Manchester.

As an integral and prominent member of our work winning function you will be responsible for:

• The preparation and submission of high-quality tenders for bulk earthworks and general civil engineering works. Price activities such as earthworks, drainage, ducting and hard landscaping from first principles.
• The preparation of Bill of Quantities for pricing purposes from drawings and

  specifications. Analyse and interpret tender information, identify scheme in terms of construction methods, programme and management.

• Liaise with operational teams to Identify key win themes of target projects to ensure that the best possible solutions are included within our tender bids.
• Engagement with clients for upcoming schemes and provide input during the early

  stages of the tendering process, offering advice on methods of working, programme and

  overall best practice. Ensure ongoing liaison with the Clients team throughout the tendering process and following submission.

• Liaise with supply chain partners, including suppliers and consulting engineers to ensure best value. Prepare and issue enquiries and analyse returns.
• Attend and excel at meetings with our clients to negotiation and ultimately successfully secure the right work for P.P. O’Connor Group at the right price and risk profile.
• Contributing the production of detailed project programmes (MS Project preferred)

  and outline method statements.

• Collaborate with the Managing Director and Bid Team on PQQ / Framework submissions.
• Upon successful award prepare handover files for our site teams, detailing build-ups, assumptions and targets.

Skills

• Computer literate, P. P. O’Connor Group utilises Causeway Estimating Software.
• Good appreciation of all forms of Standard Forms of Contract.
• Good working knowledge of Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Experience

• Being fully aware of contractual and construction risks.
• Appreciation of appropriate construction techniques and solutions for earthworks and general civil engineering.
• Proficient in producing take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from engineering drawings and specifications
• Strong understanding of risk management methodologies and their application to project costing.

• Able to work using their initiative, but also able to work as part of a small busy team, working often to tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a keen attention to detail.
