FK Group is a national, full building envelope contractor, specialising in roofing, cladding, glazing and maintenance across a diverse range of sectors. The company has been running for over 45 years and has been involved in a numerous high profile construction projects.

Working within the FK Planning team to support on all project planning duties including preparing project specific programmes for inclusion within the Tender submission.

This role requires individuals with aspirations to develop/further enhance career in planning, programming and project management working on all aspects of initial planning, phasing, coordination and sequencing for the FK project tender programmes.

Main responsibilities of the role:

Day to day operational

• Working with the tender, pre-construction and delivery teams on a range of opportunities and live projects by collaboratively developing and maintaining robust detailed project plans.
• Preparing project specific programmes for inclusion within the Tender submission.
• Establishing optimal construction methodologies, logic sequences & working outputs by producing programmes for review and preparing logistics proposal.
• Pro-actively ensuring that planning standards are maintained across all projects and planning & control procedures are adhered to.
• Assisting the Operations teams with tracking changes and progress on live projects where required to take into account delays, site progression and commercial impact.
• Visit sites, attend progress meetings, monitor progress and assist to update short term plans and construction programmes.
• Learn to communicate and quantify the effects of progress on key dates.
• To promote a partnership ethos within the Pre-Construction department of Estimating and Planning as well as Operations teams by developing and maintaining close working relationships both internally and with external client’s team.

Business development

• To maintain a good, up to date knowledge of the methodology of product installation.

People management

• To communicate effectively with the Estimating and Operations teams.

General

• Work closely with other internal departments providing a helpful and proactive advice and support.
• Develop strong, long-term relationships internally and with the client.
• To undertake any other reasonable duty as required by the Company.

Communications and working relationships

• Colleagues within pre-construction, estimating, design and operations, throughout the FK Group companies.
• Client’s project design team (main contractor, architects, engineers etc).
• Supply chain partners.

To succeed in this role you will have:

• Knowledge / Experience of project planning systems and software such as Microsoft Project (desirable) and Asta Powerproject.
• Experience within the construction industry or related industry (preferable).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good standard of general IT literacy; proficient in use of Word and Excel.
• Good basic standard of general literacy and numeracy.
• Able to communicate with team members and departments to either relay or gather information, and to assist with preparing reports and updating information on site.
