The investment in Warwick’s West Midlands campus represents the largest single investment in campus facilities across its entire 60-year history.
Phase one will involve the new science and engineering precinct to reinvigorate the heart of its campus.
A former car park at the University’s main campus will be the site for the new teaching spaces and laboratories under the new plans.
Works plan
- A new flagship 25,000m² Science and Engineering Building
- Demolition and refurbishment of buildings currently occupied by Physics and Chemistry to create new departmental homes for these disciplines as well as Engineering
- New University Green at the centre of campus
- A public engagement space, encouraging future scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians to take part in activities and to view the impact our research has through interactive exhibitions
- Energy efficient buildings, with the ambition of achieving WELL Platinum standards, or equivalent
Construction of the 25,000 sq m Science and Engineering Building is set to start when all enabling works have been completed later this year.
The Connect Programme will also strengthen the economy by creating more than 1,500 construction-related jobs over the lifetime of the project.
Warwick University has enlisted Mace as project manager, BDP as architect and Arup for building services design.
