Two regional managing directors have left Morgan Sindall as the contractor restructures its construction operations to “reflect market conditions”.

Morgan Sindall confirmed today that north east MD Gordon Ray and south west boss Peter Whitmore are leaving the business.

The new structure will see Morgan Sindall now operate across four enlarged regions with David Smith and John Homer taking on wider regional responsibilities.

A spokesman told the Enquirer: “We do, in the normal course of prudent business management, regularly review the scale of our operations to reflect market conditions.

“In order to further increase the operational efficiency of our construction business, we have taken the decision to move from six to four geographic operating areas.

“This has resulted in broadening the geographic responsibilities of Dave Smith who is now construction managing director for the north of England and Wales and John Homer who is now construction managing director for the south of England and Wales.

“Scotland will continue to be led by Harry Thorburn while Peter Jacobs will retain responsibility for the London and Aviation teams.

“As a result of this, Gordon Ray and Peter Whitmore will be leaving the business. We thank them for their contribution to Morgan Sindall and wish them well for the future
