The firm beat rival bids from Balfour Beatty, Skanska and Mace to take the Bennetts Associates designed seven storey office building.

The project for developers Derwent London, includes the demolition of the existing buildings at 40-45 Chancery Lane to make way for 102,000 sq ft of premium office space with retail at ground floor.

The project has been designed to be highly sustainable and is on track to achieve a BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) Excellent rating.

Materials for the development will be sustainably sourced and the building will incorporate a number of features such as green roofs, fair faced concrete, chilled plasterboard ceilings, low energy lighting and presence detection.

The development will also include high efficiency mechanical and electrical systems robust enough to accommodate future needs.

Work has already started on site to demolish the existing buildings and retain one façade and the development is due to be completed in September 2014.

The project team includes quantity surveyor, Davis Langdon, services engineers, ARUP, structural engineers, AKTII and architects, Bennetts Associates.

Morgan Sindall is due to complete work on a £65m office redevelopment in Agar Street in the heart of London’s West End for Legal & General Property (LGP).

The company has also recently secured a contract to transform the former Pathé headquarters on Wardour Street in Soho as part of a major office refurbishment for LGP.
