NHS Midlands and East has this week approved plans to build the county’s first radiotherapy centre, allowing the contract to be signed to build the new centre.
The 35,000 sq ft extension at Worcestershire Royal Hospital will be 10m metres high and include the main entrance, consultant rooms, treatment rooms and radiotherapy bunkers. The project is scheduled to open at the end of next year.
The trust also plans to create an additional 401 parking spaces on land adjacent to the hospital site, to replace the 209 spaces that will be lost when the centre is built.
Mott MacDonald is the main M&E consultant on the project.
