Property group Goodman has been commissioned to develop the 330,000 sq ft parcel hub on the site, close to J1 of the M69.
Subject to planning permission being granted, building work is due to start in September of this year.
The proposed site covers 33 acres with the hub building extending to nearly 500m in length.
Dwain McDonald, DPD chief, said; “It is very exciting to be able to announce our plans for the East Midland hub today.”
DPD plans to spend £175m in the UK including refurbishment of two existing hubs and building 10 new local depots over the next 15 months.
Charles Crossland, managing director, Goodman UK Logistics said: “DPD is one of the world’s largest parcel delivery specialists, and its decision to locate at Hinckley Commercial Park is testament to the quality of the site, transport connectivity and the available local workforce.
DPD’s planned investment into this parcel hub will be considerable, and greatly benefit the local community and wider region.”
