B&K chairman Kirkland was invited to join for his strong commercial business insight and experience of running a successful £725m turnover private building company.

He is also president of four companies in the United States within the homeland security field.

Mary Reilly, former partner at Deloitte, also joins the board, bringing experience in risk management, governance and regulation.

She was previously chair of the London Development Agency and was on the board of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
