It is the second phase of Buckinghamshire New University’s improvements at its campuses in High Wycombe and Uxbridge, which include new student accommodation and a major enhancement to the external appearance of its main building opposite Wycombe Hospital.
The £1.2m deal involves manufacturing of 180 ‘RoomSolutions’ precast concrete units off site at Bell & Webster’s factory in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
The first delivery and commencement of on site erection will start later this month ready for first fix electrics, plumbing and bathroom ‘pods’ to be installed followed by the external envelope works.
Buckinghamshire New University will launch the new blocks in September 2014 for the new student intake.
ElecoPrecast Managing Director, John Stothard said: “We are delighted to be a part of this exciting development, which offers sustainable, efficient student accommodation and we look forward to working closely with Galliford Try both now and in the future”.
Galliford Try Northern Home Counties Senior Project Manager, Max Jadav said: “The Precast Crosswall frame by Bell & Webster works extremely well for this kind of accommodation as opposed to other frame methods.
“It’s a tried and tested fast track construction and provides excellent self contained living space for each of the students with shared kitchens per cluster of student bedrooms.”
