British Land intends to redevelop the Clarges Estate, which it bought for £130m last year, with offices and flats in three new buildings.
According to construction information specialist Glenigan, Laing O’Rourke is finalising details of the project with the aim of British Land signing a contract before the end of the year.
The scheme, designed by Squire & Partners, is expected to have a final construction value of up to £180m. It will involve the demolition of the existing building block to make way for the 190,000sq ft scheme, which includes luxury flats fronting Piccadilly.
The project will also see offices built in a separate block, and a new building for the Kennel Club. Waterman Group is structural and building services consultant on the project.
Planning consent was granted last month although the section 106 has to be agreed.
