The new-style collaborative delivery framework will be used to deliver between £4bn to £5bn of schemes over the next 4 – 6 years.
It will establish much closer working ties with designers and agency officials than previously achieved and span the entire major highways building programme, including managed motorways.
The new smaller panels of contractors will deliver projects like the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, motorway widening and bypass schemes, junctions, super pinch points and asset renewal works.
Work will be split between three lots covering engineering design services, medium-value and high-value construction jobs.
The largest will be the major projects framework with six contractors expected to share out a projects spend of up to £3.2bn over the life of the new collaborative delivery programme.

Lot 1 – Professional design and engineering services – 12 consultants
Lot 2 – Medium value construction works (schemes up to £25m) – 5 contractors
Lot 3A – High value construction works (£25m-£100m) – 6 contractors
Lot 3B – High value construction works (£100m-£450m) – 5 contractors
Prequalification forms need to be in by 25 November and can be obtained from the Highways Agency procurement portal
