Brims wins £6m toffee factory conversion

Sunderland based Brims Construction has won a £6m contract to convert a derelict Newcastle toffee factory into a centre for creative businesses.

The project is being led by NewcastleGateshead’s city development company 1NG.

Its chief executive Jim McIntyre said: “The fact that a building contractor will shortly be on site is really positive news in the current economic climate.”
