The Enquirer understands that Mayfair Building Services was struggling to pay its suppliers and staff last week.

A spokesperson from Mace said: “We have a well-established process in place for the rare occasions when we have issues with suppliers.

“In the recent case of Mayfair Building Services, we have been able to ensure that none of the operatives working on our major projects have lost their job and no time has been lost.”

Calls to Mayfair Building Services’s head office in Kent went unanswered.

A site source said: “It looks like Mayfair couldn’t pay its workers and suppliers so Mace has stepped in.

“They have worked with Mace for a while and were a regular on a lot of their major jobs.”
