Betting Spy: Liverpool to pile on misery for Man Utd

It’s been a while since Liverpool sat above Man Utd in the table at this stage of the season.

And if your mind meanders back to days of tighter shorts and times when Hansen and Lawrenson made a living out of playing, rather than talking about football, then you wouldn’t be far wrong.

In 21 seasons of the Premier League Man Utd have finished above Liverpool every time bar a blip in 2001-02.

But times are changing fast and Liverpool seem a side on the up while David Moyes men remain in a state of relative disarray.

As always the bookies are a bit behind on all this and are chalking-up Man Utd as 6/4 favourites for Sunday’s clash at Old Trafford.

That makes the 15/8 against Liverpool look an attractive punt on current form.

Chuck in the fact that United have their crunch Champions League tie with Olympiakos just three days later and it becomes even more alluring.

United have struggled at the back all season.

That doesn’t bode well for the home fans with the deadly duo of Sturridge and Suarez bang in form backed-up by the pace of Raheem Sterling.

Liverpool should have too much speed and movement for the home side and will be raring to put one over their old adversaries.

I’ll be at the game courtesy of those nice people at Willmott Dixon who are playing host to Betting Spy for the day.

And if you think all it takes to get a mention in this column is an invite to a top sporting event then you’d be damn right.
