Coles will specialise in convenience and smaller food store developments and also carry out consultancy work.
A spokesman for Tesco said: “Philip Coles has decided, having made a lasting contribution to the company’s UK expansion and most recently managing the mixed-use subsidiary Spenhill, to leave the business to pursue other interests.”
As head of Spenhill, Coles was responsible for procuring and developing the new generation of mixed-use development projects where a Tesco store acts as the anchor tenant.
