The outfit was associated in the past with groundworks but more recently carried out extensive works such as housing refurbishment, restoration and demolition.

Atlas Building is understood to have employed around 30 staff mainly covering housing refurbishment.

The firm previously headed by three directors Anthony, Frank and Francis McGovern is now being run by administrators from Altrincham-based insolvency specialist Lucas Johnson.

The business has no connection with the larger Atlas Building & Civil Engineers group, based in Derby.
