Betting Spy: Richer Rooney emerges from Man Utd rubble

It’s been a bit like being a house builder at Betting Spy this week.

Three winning tips on the trot have left us cash rich and in need of something to do with our money.

But instead of shovelling it back at shareholders the only play is another punt to try and make it four wins on the bounce.

So let’s have a go on a win treble with Stoke to beat Spurs, Arsenal to dismiss Newcastle and Everton to win on the road at Southampton.

That little lot pays out nearly 9/1 and should add to the cash pile.

The Betting Spy reserves will have to go some to match Wayne Rooney who has somehow emerged as a major winner from Man Utd’s disastrous season.

As David Moyes was dumped and the Red Devils slumped to their worst performance for years, Wazza trousered a new £300,000 a week contract.

That’s going to cause a headache for the next manager because no truly world-class player will want to earn less than Rooney.

There’s talk of a £100m transfer kitty for next season at Old Trafford.

Good luck with that. They need at least seven new players who will all want parity with Wayne’s £15m a year pay deal.

Nearer to home the West Ham crowd are making it very clear what they think of Sam Allardyce’s “style” of football.

Allardyce is the sort of man who has no time for flair or artistry.

You get the impression he’d ask Picasso to paint his shed.

Big Sam’s Jurassic tactics have finally woken the Upton Park crowd up from its coma and calls for a change in direction grow louder with every long ball launched.

Alan Shearer dismissed East Londoners as dreamers on Match of the Day and questioned what the fabled “West Ham way” actually was.

I’ll enlighten you Alan.

It’s not about winning at all costs. It’s about playing attractive football that entertains the crowd.

Sure we’ve never won much. But on their day West Ham were a match for anyone and could be a joy to watch – which made us many people’s “second” team.

I started watching in the era of Brooking and Devonshire and have seen players like Di Canio light up Upton Park.

Now we are becoming a byword for boredom and anti-football.

It’s time to let West Ham players actually start playing football again.

Surely that’s not too much to ask?
