The scheme will comprise ten-storeys of student accommodation, with 172 bedrooms, 131 with individual en-suite shower pods, 41 with shared bathroom and shower facilities.
The complex will be arranged in a number of clusters, with 46 individual studios with integrated kitchenettes. The ground and basement floors will provide 220 square metres of retail space, in addition to the reception, common areas and ancillary spaces for the student accommodation.
A modular unitised cladding system will be used to create the façade. All bathroom pods will be prefabricated offsite and put into place using a tower crane.
Designed to achieve a BREEAM “Excellent” rating a host of environmental features will be utilised including a living wall. All dwelling spaces will use ultra efficient LED lighting, providing significant energy and emission savings and the scheme will use only A++ rated white goods and fittings.
Work is expected to complete in spring 2012 and the win follows on from Mansell’s successful completion of a £20.7m student accommodation project at 100 East Road in north London for Urbanest.
