The Manchester firm survived the collapse of the main group construction business Jim Ennis Construction two years ago and took on many of the main group’s 130 staff.
But it has now lost the battle for survival in the wake of the collapse of the group, which went down owing creditors £4m.
The other surviving firm Ennis Construction Airports, which employs around 12 workers, has not been affected by the administration and is hoping for work connected with the Manchester airport development.
The contractor started out as a roads, sewers and car park specialist 40 years ago but branched out through the Jim Ennis Construction brand into concreting work on major projects like the Trafford Centre and City of Manchester Stadium.
The main business collapsed under pressure from cut-throat bidding and payment delays and a contract with Carillion that was priced badly.
