Cutler, 45, left his job as chief executive of Barhale, at the start of the year to run Balfour’s regional business, replacing Mike Peasland.
Cutler’s departure last week came just before Balfour Beatty’s latest £75m profit warning bombshell this morning – the fifth in 18 months.
This time around the regional business suffered £10m in write-downs on and problems at the south west and wales region.
Balfour said the senior management restructuring had taken place to cut overheads and speed up decision taking over the business.
The four regional construction managing directors will now report directly to construction services CEO Nick Pollard.
The UK regional finance director’s role, presently held by Bev Dew, will not be filled when he leaves to join Kier as new group finance director early next year.
A spokeswoman for Balfour Beatty said: “We have removed a reporting tier from our Regional business to cut out overhead costs and speed up decision making.
“Mark Cutler, former UK Managing Director, Balfour Beatty Regional, has left Balfour Beatty to pursue opportunities outside of the Balfour Beatty Group. This was by mutual agreement.”
