The contractor saw off bids from Morgan Sindall and John Sisk to take the 8-storey office project on the banks of the River Irwell.
English Cities Fund, a joint venture between Muse Development, Legal and General and the Homes and Communities Agency, are developing the project, which is expected to have a development value of over £50m.
The Ralli Courts building, which formerly occupied the One New Bailey site, has now been demolished clearing the way for work to start immediately.
Funded by Legal & General, the development marks a key milestone in the New Bailey scheme, which includes a 615-space multi-storey car park, currently under construction and a 143-bed Premier Inn, also been built by B&K.
Designed by RHWL Architects to a BREEAM Excellent standard, One New Bailey provides large floorplates of up to 17,000 sq ft.
Neil Brook, regional director of Bowmer & Kirkland in the North West, said: “It is great to have been appointed on the next phase of the New Bailey development and look forward to furthering our relationship with ECf on what is a very important project being the first office development.”
Phil Mayall, development director at ECf, said: “We are very pleased to have appointed Bowmer & Kirkland on One New Bailey as they have already completed the Premier Inn to the agreed timescales and budget.”
Buro Four is the contract administrator on the project which is due for completion in spring 2016.
