The combined heat and power plant will be the largest waste wood renewable energy plant in the North West.
Stobart is working in a joint venture with Danish specialist Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S who will act as the project’s engineering, procurement and construction contractor.
Stobart’s civil engineering division will construct the dryer facility, procure the equipment and install it.
Stobart Rail also expects to generate revenue as a civil works subcontractor to BWSC for the construction of the CHP Plant.
The value of these two civil construction contracts will be approximately £15m.
Work is scheduled for completion in December 2016.
